Zelenski commemorates the dead and presents military awards on Sofia Square


Some of the "Hero of Ukraine" awards were presented posthumously.
On the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards and the title of Hero of Ukraine to Ukrainian defenders, volunteers and rescuers on St Sophia Square in Kiev.
We respect each and every person who has become a soldier for Ukraine - our state. Let us remember each and every person who saved our country, let us remember each and every person who gave their life for the life of Ukraine.
Part of the awards and titles "Hero of Ukraine" were presented posthumously.
The President also presented battle banners to combat units.
I thank all those who survived that February, that year, and who give Ukraine inflexibility! Glory to all who are now in combat! Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, intelligence service, Security Service of Ukraine, National Police, Ukrainian border guards and all you, our Defence and Security Forces! Glory to all you, who help fight and save lives! Glory to all those whose lives were taken by this war.
The event was attended by Valeriy Zaluzhniy, the AFU commander-in-chief, Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, GUR head Kyrylo Budanov, National Security and Defence Council secretary Oleksiy Danilov, ministers and other officials.
