Zaluzhny and Umerov discussed plans with Pentagon chief


The sides discussed plans and needs on the battlefield and Ukraine's accession to NATO.
Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhny and Defence Minister Rustem Umerov met with US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin and Commander of the US Armed Forces in Europe Christopher Cavoli on Monday, November 20. They reported about it on Facebook.
Zaluzhny said that under the chairmanship of Rustem Umerov, together with Chief of General Staff Sergei Shaptala, took part in talks with our American partners.
Reported on the situation at the front. They discussed in detail joint plans in the short, medium and long term. Separately dwelt on the needs and technological solutions that will strengthen our capabilities on the battlefield," Zaluzhny wrote.
Umerov said there was a fruitful discussion about Ukraine's current and future needs on the battlefield and how the United States and its allies can help meet them.
Another important topic concerned NATO. Ukraine has chosen its path: to become a member of the alliance. Therefore, NATOification is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine," Umerov wrote.
Zaluzhny emphasised that the work continues on the principles of openness and maximum trust.
