In Nikolaev, the head of the locomotive depot wasted fuel for 1.7 million hryvnias


Investigators reported the suspicion to the head of the locomotive depot and two of his subordinates for wasting fuel for 1.7 million hryvnias.
The police found that the 44-year-old head of the locomotive depot, and his subordinates, abusing their official position, embezzled more than 70,000 liters of diesel fuel by illegally transferring it to a business entity. This was reported in the Main Directorate of the National Police and the Nikolaev Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Based on the evidence obtained, the investigators informed the defendants about the suspicion under part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code (“Assignment, embezzlement of property or taking it by abuse of official position, committed on a huge scale”). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and with confiscation of property, the prosecutor's office said.
Prosecutors appealed to the court for the election of suspected measures of restraint.
