The states do not rule out direct armed conflict with Russia.

About 80,000 US military personnel have been deployed on the territory of European NATO countries to support allies and deter further Russian aggression. This is the subject of a letter from current US President Joe Biden to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the head of the Senate on the War Powers Report.

The letter said the soldiers were sent to counter terrorist threats that could come from Russian Federation and its satellites. .

Approximately 80,000 members of the United States Armed Forces are assigned or deployed to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation countries in Europe, including to reassure our allies and deter further Russian aggression", Biden pointed out.

It is noted that the troops were deployed back in 2022, but since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the contingent has been increased.

Biden's letter said that his administration and he himself "regularly communicates with congressional leadership, relevant committees and other members of Congress about these deployments, and will continue to do so."

Note that the largest contingent is stationed in Germany, with more than 35,000 troops. Five of the seven US Army garrisons in Europe are located in the country (the other two are in Belgium and Italy). The headquarters of the U.S. Army in Europe is located in Wiesbaden, the headquarters of the Marine Corps is in Beblingen. American airbases are located in Ramstein and Spangdahlem. In addition, American nuclear warheads are stored in Germany.

The second largest contingent is stationed in Italy - 12.3 thousand military personnel (including reserves and civilians - 15.2 thousand). Italy also hosts US nuclear weapons.

Britain has 10.2 thousand US military personnel (11.7 thousand including reserves and civilians).

Spain has 3.3 thousand US military personnel stationed in Spain (3.7 thousand together with reserves and civilians).

There are 1.7 thousand US military personnel stationed in Turkey (1.8 thousand together with civilians and reserves), 1.1 thousand in Belgium (1.9 thousand together with civilians and reserves), and 0.4 thousand in the Netherlands (0.6 thousand together with civilians and reserves). US nuclear warheads are also stored on the territory of these three countries.

Smaller garrisons are stationed in other countries.

It should be noted that the US armed forces are constantly increasing their presence near Alaska, deploying a destroyer and an army unit armed with a long-range missile system. Tensions are rising in the region due to the intensification of military operations off the coast of Alaska by Russia and China.
