Attack on the Dnipro River: the death toll has risen to seven, with about 70 people injured.

As a result of another Russian missile strike on the Dnieper River, the death toll has risen to seven people. About 70 people were injured, among them ten children. Five of the injured are in serious condition, medics continue to fight for their lives. This was reported by the head of the Dnepropetrovsk regional military administration Sergey Lysak.

According to the authorities, the final data on the number of dead and injured are still being clarified - the scale of destruction is significant. Local residents were saved from even greater consequences thanks to timely move to shelters after the air raid alarm.

I emphasise once again: do not ignore the alarms. It really saves lives," Lysak noted.

Scale of destruction

The attack occurred on the morning of 24 June during an air alert. The Ukrainian Air Force recorded the launch of two ballistic missiles in the direction of the Dnieper. One of them hit the residential sector of the city.

Destroyed and damaged:

  • residential houses and private buildings,

  • a hostel, an administrative building,

  • 14 schools and kindergartens,

  • the city hospital and polyclinic,

  • gymnasium,

  • about 19 schools and 10 kindergartens were damaged by the shockwave and shrapnel,

  • cars were damaged.

The blast wave also damaged passenger train No. 52 "Odessa - Zaporozhye": windows were broken, but there was no direct hit. All passengers were promptly evacuated to a shelter. Railway workers organised a change of cars and an additional train for transfer.

Rescuers, medics and police are working at the site.

Consequences of the shelling of Samara

In addition to the attack on Dnipro, the consequences of the strike on Samara are also reported: at least nine injured, four of them in serious condition. The situation remains tense. Ukraine continues to record Russia's use of ballistic weapons on civilian infrastructure.
