Car production in Russia has fallen to a historic low

In one year, Russia produced less than a million cars.
This was reported by Radio Liberty.
The journalists cite data from Albert Karimov, deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Industry.
He said that car production in Russia collapsed by 60% in 2022, to a historic low of 620,000 cars.
The reason for this is that many international companies have stopped production after Russia started a full-scale war in Ukraine.
Most European, US and Japanese manufacturers, including BMW, Hyundai, Toyota and Volkswagen, have announced their withdrawal from the market.
In addition, Russian factories have had to go back to producing simplified" model cars according to the standards of the 1990s. Because of the withdrawal of foreign manufacturers, Russians are short of spare parts and components.
