Poland may return visa regime with Ukraine - details

In Poland, the discussion about the possible return of visa regime with a number of countries, including Ukraine, is gaining momentum.
This was stated by MP Krzysztof Bosak, referring to the position of police and special services officers, who, according to him, unofficially support the tightening of migration control, Do Rzeczy reports.
However, according to the parliamentarian, the ruling political forces - from the Law and Justice party to representatives of the Social Democrats and the Left - ignore such proposals and do not provide effective tools to regulate migration from post-Soviet countries. Bosak noted that countries such as Ukraine remain Russian-speaking environments potentially vulnerable to the influence of Russian intelligence services.
An additional reason for revising the visa policy was the aggravation of the crime situation, in particular, the increase in crime among migrants from Georgia and Armenia. Polish authorities are considering the possibility of returning the visa regime with Georgia, Armenia, Venezuela and Colombia. This, according to Polish officials, is necessary to suppress the activities of ethnic gangs and to strengthen internal security.
A recent case in Sopot has also heightened concerns, with police detaining a Ukrainian citizen on suspicion of attempting to carry out a terrorist attack against infrastructure. Despite the alarming signals, discussion of these incidents, according to Bosak, is avoided both in the Polish media and at the political level.
