In total, Russia has tentatively lost over 200,000 soldiers in the war against Ukraine.

This was reported by the TV channel Sky News, citing a Western official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Thus, according to this official, the prevailing view in the West is that Russia lost more than 60,000 military personnel as a result of its attempts to capture the town of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.

We believe that the capture of Bakhmut probably cost Russia at least 60,000 casualties in the Bakhmut-Popasna sector during the year-long battle.

That said, the number of 60,000 is a "conservative estimate", according to the politician. This number includes both the wounded and the dead. A third of the total is deaths.

In total, according to the Western official, Russia lost more than 200,000 soldiers in the war against Ukraine.
