What will happen to Russians who settled in Crimea after the occupation

The Ukrainian presidential representative in Crimea, Tamila Tasheva, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

All Russian citizens are in fact colonizers, because they came to the occupied territory to change its demographic composition. They are accomplices to the crime. And we will expel them if they do not leave the territory on their own. International law does not provide for collective expulsion - collective deportation is prohibited. So individual decisions will be applied to them," she said.

According to the representative, this applies to those Russians who came to Crimea illegally after 2014. As for the Ukrainians who were victims of the Russian passportization, they will be recognized as citizens of Ukraine.

This is very important to note because Russian propaganda spreads blatant lies, saying that Crimeans will be expelled from Crimea. Therefore, I note that only Russian citizens who violated the conditions of entry should leave the peninsula," Tasheva added.

It is noted that certain categories of Russians will be able to submit a request for residence to Ukrainian migrants and receive residence permits on the territory of Ukraine. This will concern, in particular, representatives of indigenous people who started the procedure for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship in 2014 and did not manage to do so.
