Millions of Ukrainians have fled their country since the conflict began. Many of them have fled to the West, especially to European countries.

During the war Ukraine received appeals from 45 Ukrainians in the European Union about sexual and labour slavery. This was reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets during a national telethon.

At the moment we have appeals from 45 citizens of Ukraine who are on the territory of European countries and appealed to us for help," Lubinets informed.

He also noted that Ukraine and diplomats of European countries who work on the territory of our country carefully consider every such application.

It is much easier for us here than in Russia because there are our diplomats and ombudsmen of foreign countries who are in constant contact with me. They intervene in the situation as much as possible, help our citizens. And in this context, I can say that we manage to ensure practically the entire spectrum of protection of the rights of our citizens," the official said.

Lubinets stressed that the country's authorities are doing everything possible to help Ukrainians who find themselves in such a situation.

There are elaborate options for returning our citizens and extracting them from sexual slavery. There are facts of using Ukrainian citizens with signs of sexual slavery," Lubinets said.

It should be noted that since the beginning of the year, the number of Ukrainian citizens who received official protection status in European countries has increased by 185 thousand people compared to the end of January. In total, there are 5 008 482 Ukrainians who received the status of temporary protection in the European Union.

The biggest number of Ukrainians was received by Poland - 1.577 million, Germany occupies the second place with 922 thousand Ukrainians, and in Czech Republic 502 thousand Ukrainians found asylum. More than 123 thousand Ukrainians settled in Romania, and 112 thousand Ukrainians live in Slovenia. More than 173 thousand Ukrainians live in Italy, more than 171 thousand Ukrainians live in Spain. There are more than 191 thousand Ukrainians in Great Britain.
