Selling water supply systems for military bases to Russians: company director detained in Dnipropetrovsk region

In Dnipro, the attackers sold strategically important components for water supply systems for critical and military infrastructure to Russians.

According to the SBU, the participants of the criminal scheme openly smuggled wholesale batches of pipeline valves (disc gates) for regulating the flow of liquids in engineering networks to the Russian Federation.

First of all, these products were necessary for Russian customers to equip military bases and temporary deployment points of occupation groups on the territory of Russia and in the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine. According to available data, during 2022 the businessmen illegally exported to Russia several batches of rebar components for more than 2 million UAH, - stated in the message.

The director of the specialised enterprise and his subordinate were involved in the illegal activity, who remotely contacted their customers from Russia. They together developed a mechanism for illegal export of sanctioned products to the aggressor country.

To implement the deal, they attracted several controlled companies in the Middle East, which purchased goods ostensibly for the Dnipropetrovsk plant's own needs. But after receiving the Ukrainian equipment, they immediately shipped it to the Russian Federation. To disguise the "scheme" its organisers made false information in the reporting and financial and economic documentation, - reported in the SBU.

The suspects were searched at the production facilities and at their homes and found computers, mobile phones, accounting documents and black records. On the basis of the collected evidence, they were reported on suspicion under part 2 of article 28, article 111-2 of the Criminal code of Ukraine.

The attackers face imprisonment up to 12 years with confiscation of property.

Also, the corporate rights and bank accounts of the Dnipropetrovsk-based enterprise supplying sub-sanctioned goods to the Russian Federation were seized.
