The nuclear facility Neutron Source in Kharkiv has lost its external power supply as a result of Russian shelling. This was reported by the State Atomic Regulation Inspectorate on 4 April.
The nuclear subcritical facility "Neutron Source" has been de-energised due to shelling by Russian troops in Kharkiv," the statement said.
According to the National Scientific Centre "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology", the nuclear subcritical facility "Neutron Source, based on subcritical assembly, controlled by linear electron accelerator" (NPS "Neutron Source") at 08:30 am on April 4 lost external power supply during shelling of Kharkiv by Russian troops.
The emergency power supply system worked in normal mode, emergency diesel generators were switched on. Radiation situation at the site is within normal limits.
The Neutron Source facility is designed for scientific and applied research in nuclear physics, radiation materials science, biology, chemistry, and for the production of medical radioisotopes.
