NATO says its doors remain open to European democracies

Foreign Ministers of Finland and Sweden Pekka Haavisto and Ann Linde signed the protocols on the accession of the countries to the North Atlantic Alliance.

After the process of signing the protocols, the process of ratifying the membership of both countries began

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called the event a "historic step". And that this is a response to Russian aggression.

Stoltenberg also added that the doors of the Alliance "remain open to European democracies that are ready and willing to contribute to our common security."
