Russian army dug a trench more than 70km long in Zaporizhzhya region

70 km is almost a third of the length of Zaporizhzhya region from east to west (205 km) and is approximately equal to the distance from Kherson to Nikolaev or from Vienna to Bratislava.
The Russian military has dug a gigantic 70-kilometre-long trench in Zaporizhzhya Region. The mega-fortification was discovered on Sentinel-2 satellite images analysed by the Centre for Investigative Journalism.
The outermost points of this entrenchment are to the west, near the village of Semenovka (approximately nine kilometres from the centre of Melitopol), and to the east, in a field outside the village of Marinovka in Primorsky District, north-west of Berdyansk.

Journalists found out that the invaders probably started digging this defence line from two directions at once as early as the first days of September 2022. As of October 18, 2022, the Russian army had almost completed the relevant "work".
The researchers add that the dugouts are being built by Central Asian labourers brought in in shifts.
