- Zelenskyy has proposed establishing an Order of Europe for those who have contributed to Ukraine’s European integration

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has proposed establishing a new state honour – the Order of Europe. The plan is to award this honour to Ukrainians and foreign nationals in recognition of their contribution to supporting European integration and strengthening security in Europe.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has tabled a bill in the Verkhovna Rada to establish a new state honour – the Order of Europe. This was announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk.
According to Stefanchuk, the new award is intended to honour Ukrainian citizens and foreign nationals who contribute to the country’s strategic course towards accession to the European Union.
The Order will be awarded for contributions to strengthening Ukraine’s stability, safeguarding its independence and the security of Europe, as well as for fostering international cooperation in the fields of democracy, peace and good neighbourliness.
The explanatory note to the initiative states that the award should highlight people’s contributions to supporting Ukraine’s path towards European integration and the development of partnerships between states.
It is noted that Bill No. 15359 was registered on 28 June. It is expected to be considered by parliament at one of its forthcoming plenary sessions.
