The G7 summit will be held in Japan.
This was reported by the NSDC press service .
According to an official statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend the G7 summit online.
NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said:
Who would doubt that our president will not be there (at the G7 summit - ed.). We are confident that our president will be there, anywhere in the world, to address the issues of sustainability of our country. Very important things will be decided there, and the physical presence of our president is absolutely essential in order to defend our interests - to give clear proposals and clear arguments on the events which are taking place in our country.
The summit of the G7 leaders will take place in the Japanese city of Hiroshima on 19 May. Participating countries may announce new sanctions against Russia at the summit.
It is worth recalling that the NSDC secretary earlier hinted that Volodymyr Zelenskyy would arrive in Japan personally to meet the G7 leaders.
The Associated Press, meanwhile, reports that the Ukrainian president is set to make a virtual appearance at Friday's G7 leaders' meeting and is also expected to visit Japan in person on Sunday.
