Over the past 24 hours a record number of Russians were taken captive

This was reported by the speaker of the Joint Press Centre of the Defence Forces of the Tavrian direction, Valeriy Shershen, Ukrinform reports.

The speaker said that over the past 24 hours there were 15 military clashes, most of them in the area of Maryinka

The enemy suffers significant losses and surrenders into captivity. Over the past 24 hours we recorded that 19 people surrendered into captivity. During the previous 24 hours there were 10 prisoners. This is the first time that such a large number of prisoners was recorded in the summer period, - said Hornet.

He stressed that this is an indicator of the low moral and psychological state of the Russian military and their demotivation.

Hornet added that the goal of the enemy remains unchanged - the Russians are trying to capture Maryinka. But the AFU are fighting back and are in active defence, not allowing the capture of the city.

We will remind, according to the Ministry of justice, the Russians are in Ukrainian captivity up to three months. At the same time, according to the Geneva Convention, they are provided with everything they need and are not prevented from communicating with international organisations.

As previously reported, since the beginning of the counter-offensive, the AFU has recaptured more territory than the Russian Federation occupied in six months. According to the Institute for the Study of War, 253 square kilometres of territory have been returned to Ukraine's control.
