Britain's defence chief says Russia will be a threat even after the war

The head of the British defence ministry did not rule out an accidental or deliberate armed conflict between Britain and Russia.

British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace believes that Russia will pose a threat to other countries for years to come, "even if it loses the war". He said this in an interview with The Times.

He noted that he is worried about a possible military clash between London and Moscow. According to Wallace, such a conflict could break out accidentally or deliberately.

If Putin is defeated in Ukraine, he will be very hurt..... He still has an air force and a navy - and we see that navy doing some pretty aggressive manoeuvres. He could still strike in the next three or four years," Ben Wallace noted, also pointing out that Russia still has nuclear weapons.

Wallace emphasised that Putin is vindictive and will look for someone to blame for his losses. In this case, his anger may fall on the British, whom he already considers to be to blame for a number of Russian failures on the front. In addition, Putin thinks the British are also involved in the Prigozhin rebellion.

Ben Wallace has not ruled out that Russia could attack undersea European communications that provide data and energy resources.

About 40 per cent of Europe's energy supply now comes from Norway's gas fields. Imagine how vulnerable this is," the minister said.

Wallace also pointed out that Russia is not the only threat to the peaceful existence of the countries. In his opinion, China creates a special tension in the Asian region, as well as the threat comes from terrorist groups in the Middle East.

It should be noted that the head of the Ministry of Defence of Britain plans to leave his post. He intends to do so in autumn.
