State Border Service tells how many Wagnerians Lukashenko will receive

The State Border Service of Ukraine has said that up to 8,000 mercenaries of the Russian Wagner Cheka could be deployed on the territory of Belarus. They also noted that Russia keeps about two thousand soldiers of its regular army in Belarus. This was stated by the State Border Guard Service spokesman, Andrei Demchenko, in his commentary for Ukrinform.

He pointed out that these are significant numbers, but Demchenko believes that Alexander Lukashenko (the self-proclaimed president of Belarus) may go as far as to allow Pryhozhyn's ushers to stay in the Republic because of his commitment to the Russian regime.

Demchenko stressed that the occupiers were in fact using Belarus as a base for training their units, military aviation flights and so on. He also assured that the Ukrainian border guard service constantly monitors the situation in the neighbouring country and is ready to respond to challenges.

We are constantly monitoring the situation in the neighbouring country. Ukraine is strengthening its defence lines in the north," he pointed out.

Speaking about where camps for the Wagnerites might be placed, Demchenko said that data from open sources show that new field camps in Belarus are being set up at a considerable distance from the border with Ukraine.

Despite this, the presence of Wagner's mercenaries in Belarus will pose an additional potential threat, primarily related to sabotage and organization of various kinds of provocations," he said.

We would like to add that the Belaruski Hayun monitoring group reported that the construction of a new field camp near Osipovichi (Mogilev region) has already been completed in Belarus.

About 300 tents have already been set up, which can accommodate 30 people each.

In total, that is about 8,940 military personnel, but some of the tents are not for living - there can be toilets, showers, canteens and so on. Thus, the camp is set up for ≈8,000 people," the observers believe.
