US will remain on Ukraine's side in confrontation with Russia - Pompeo

At a forum in the Black Sea region, Mike Pompeo made it clear that the US would not back down from supporting Ukraine.
The United States of America will not leave Ukraine without support in its fight against Russia. This was stated by former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the international Black Sea Forum on Security.
According to the politician, Washington cannot afford to "walk away and leave everything to itself", as such actions will have long-term consequences for the USA itself.
America can't just say, 'you decide everything here on your own' and walk away. That will haunt us for the rest of history. If we use the analogy with chess, which symbolises the forum - we definitely do not see Ukraine as a pawn that can be sacrificed. That will not happen," Pompeo emphasised.
The Black Sea Security Forum annually gathers representatives of more than 30 countries - politicians, diplomats, experts and analysts. In 2025, the event again focuses on security issues, as well as political and economic challenges facing the Black Sea region.
It should be noted that United States Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal during their visit to Kiev revealed a vision of future military-industrial co-operation between Ukraine and the USA. Lindsey Graham emphasised the importance of the economic partnership between the USA and Ukraine, which is based on the mineral agreement. The senator noted that the existing business relationship has the potential to expand into the defence sector, which would allow the US military-industrial complex to develop arms exports to Ukraine. Graham also sees the prospect of setting up joint ventures that would facilitate defence cooperation between the two countries.
