- Ukrainians in Melitopol have found a way not to take Russian passports

Russians are forcing residents of the temporarily occupied territories to renounce Ukrainian citizenship.
Ukrainians in Melitopol have found a way to ignore Russian passports, the Centre for National Resistance has said.
They said that the Russians are trying in every way to give Ukrainians Russian passports. At the same time, people are being blackmailed with money, because any payment or aid for residents of the occupied city can be received only by presenting a Russian passport. As the CNS recalled, Ukrainian payments are not available to Melitopol residents at the moment.
Also, the absence of a Russian passport creates additional problems at the occupier's checkpoints for Ukrainians," the Centre wrote.
However, despite the problems, Melitopol residents avoid forced passportization in every possible way. They sign up in electronic queues, receive notification that they are "waiting for a document" and do not arrive in due time to collect their passports. Then this procedure is repeated.
This makes it easier to check at the checkpoint, because you have messages about signing up for the passport queue," the CNS added.
