Ukrainian rescuers completed work in Slovenia (video, photo)

Every day, despite the extreme heat, fatigue and remoteness from their homes, rescuers of the State Emergency Situations Service worked to help the brotherly people overcome the consequences of the catastrophic flood. This is reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service.

Missed home, missed family - this is probably the most difficult thing in the work - say the rescuers.

Local residents raised Ukrainian flags, children served sweets, coffee and gave drawings to Ukrainian rescuers.

During 17 days of work, specialists of the State Emergency Service dismantled houses destroyed by the flood. They cleared and widened more than one and a half thousand metres of the river, strengthened about 1300 metres of the bank.

They moved more than 53 thousand cubic metres of soil, stone and silt and changed the channel at one of the sites to protect houses from high water.

In addition, they transported 11 units of heavy engineering equipment from other countries that were working nearby to the areas of emergency recovery works. The total route, which were carried out by the drivers of the State Emergency Service, was more than 1800 km.

The tasks assigned to the Ukrainian rescuers were fulfilled in full.
