As of 17 December, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue active combat operations on a section of the front with a total length of more than 1,170 kilometres.

The situation remains difficult. This was stated by commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyy at a meeting of the All-Ukrainian Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

According to him, the main efforts of the Ukrainian military are focused on holding the occupied borders and positions. In addition, the military act to exhaust the enemy and create conditions for further liberation of the occupied territories.

The most difficult situation is observed in the Pokrovskyi and Kurakhovskyi directions. The enemy has significantly increased the intensity of offensive actions in the Kramatorsk, Toretsk and Vremeevsk directions, where it is trying to break through the defence of our troops, but so far without success.

Tense situation is also observed in the south of Ukraine, but controlled. The enemy is conducting low-intensity offensives in the Orekhovsky and Prydniprovskyi directions.
