1,596 people returned from Russian captivity in 2022

In 2022, 1,596 people were returned from enemy captivity. The last exchange took place on 31 December of the outgoing year.



This was reported by the Ministry of Reintegration.

In particular, 1,464 servicemen and 132 civilians were released from Russian captivity.

The prisoner exchanges took place through the joint efforts of the Office of the President, the State Security Service of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Reintegration.

Representatives of the National Information Bureau of the Ministry of Reintegration were permanently involved in the process of meeting the released persons.

The NIB provides social accompaniment to the released captives as well as primary assistance.

Ukraine returned 140 people in a major prisoner exchange.

These included the wounded as well as defenders of Mariupol, Snake Island, TRo volunteers from Slavutych, with parents and sons together in captivity, as well as ours from Bakhmutia.

82 AFU fighters, 15 from TRo, 22 from NGU, 11 from CPA and 10 from GNAU.

132 men and 8 women, 22 officers and 118 sergeants and soldiers.

Dog from Azovstal, which was given to Kadyrov, returned to Ukraine

The dog of Azovstal's defenders, which was presented to Kadyrov, has been returned to Ukraine along with the prisoners as a result of today's exchange, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, has said.

The dog was given to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov in June, when he said that the dog would guard his home. The dog belonged to the captive defender of Azovstal.
