A VLK employee helped more than 100 men cross the border illegally

This was reported by the National Police of Kiev.

For assistance in the illegal departure of men abroad, the attackers demanded 10,000 US dollars. During the activities of detainees "services" were used by more than 100 men of conscription age.

Among the suspects:

• a lawyer in Kiev;
• an employee of the military medical commission (VVK) of one of the district territorial centres for recruitment and social support in Odessa;
• two accomplices of a VVK employee.

The accomplices organised a large-scale scheme to produce documents to evade military service and travel abroad. For USD 10 thousand per person, the accomplices assisted their clients in obtaining the "necessary" result of the military medical commission and removal from the military registration, which allowed them to leave Ukraine without hindrance. According to preliminary information, more than 100 people of conscription age managed to use such services of the scheme participants, - the police said.

Three criminals were detained. They were searched and found evidence of criminal activity.

The attackers are reported on suspicion of illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine (part 3 of Art. 332 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code) and acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of illegal benefit by an official (part 3 of Art. 368 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code). They face up to 10 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property. The pre-trial hearing is ongoing.
