SBU detains adjuster of Russian strikes on Sumy

According to the investigation, the "targeting" of Russian weapons along the border regional centre was carried out by a Russian citizen who has a residence permit in Ukraine and has been living in Sumy for a long time.

The woman was instructed by her handlers from Russian intelligence to recruit residents of Sumy region to establish her small agent network to collect information on the location of military and critical infrastructure facilities, movement of military equipment and other data.

To collect intelligence, she went around the territory of the regional centre ostensibly on her own business or "darkly" asked "necessary" information from her acquaintances," the report said.

According to the coordinates transmitted by the Russian woman, the enemy shelled Sumshchina, in particular made several drone strikes on 7 September 2023.

Operatives of the DVB of the National police and the SBU detained the woman in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal procedure code of Ukraine. In the phone of the attacker law enforcers found evidence of cooperation with the Russian special services.

The defendant was reported on suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

• ч. 4 of Article 27, part 2 of Article 111 (incitement to high treason under martial law);
• ч. 3 of Article 114-2 (unauthorised dissemination of information about the movement or deployment of the AFU or other military formations formed under the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law with the purpose of providing such information to representatives of the state carrying out armed aggression against Ukraine, if it entailed grave consequences).

The woman faces life imprisonment.

As previously reported, the SBU exposed a resident of Kryvyy Rih who recorded the consequences of enemy shelling and collected information about the movement of the defence forces and the direction of flights of AFU combat aircraft.
