The evacuation of civilians was mandatory following the liberation of Donetsk Region's populated areas. Thirty-one people were evacuated from dangerous regions.

Most of the evacuated people who could not leave the region earlier are pensioners.

The head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, said this at a briefing, Ukrinform reported.

The Ukrainian army recently liberated several settlements in the Donetsk region, namely Blagodatne, Storozhevoye, Neskuchne and Makarovka. After which the evacuation of all civilians who remained in the dangerous territory began. A total of 31 people have been evacuated.

Now the evacuation of the population remaining in these settlements is underway, their number is small. Now the total number of people who have already been transported to a place where they are receiving medical and psychological assistance and the necessary food, these people have been evacuated. There are now 30 people from the above-mentioned settlements, and one more person with disabilities," the head of the region said.

He said that the evacuation is mandatory and cannot be refused, as there are no safe settlements in the region.

It is not a question of who wants to go and who does not want to. First, we evacuate them to a certain stabilization point in the region, where they receive assistance, and then outside the region," said Kirilenko.

Later, the head of the region said that more than 80 per cent of houses in the liberated territories of Volnovakha district have been destroyed. Now the Ukrainian military are conducting "mopping up" and demining there.
