Russia planned to occupy Ukraine pretending to run a strategic exercise
The GUR received documents from the Center group of Russian troops, from which it became clear why all the prisoners tell the tale "we got lost, we are at the exercises."

The documents received by the military intelligence of Ukraine testify to the intentions of the occupiers to seize the capital of Ukraine.
In particular, the group of Russian troops "Center", operating in the Chernihiv and Sumy directions, was given the task of capturing the left-bank part of Kyiv.
This is discussed in the combat order of the commander of the 96th separate reconnaissance brigade, which he received from the headquarters of the 1st tank army of the western military district.
The document defines the stages of the offensive and the tasks of the personnel of the brigade.
