Border guards showed touching photos of service spaniels (photo)

The State Border Service of Ukraine has published photos of service spaniels and told about the peculiarities of this breed of anti-smuggling fighters.

The spaniel is an ancient breed, the first references to it date back to the 10th century. The homeland of this breed is Spain, and the word "spaniel" means Spanish. Initially, these dogs were used only for hunting game. Subsequently, they were brought to Britain by Celtic tribes, from where they have already spread around the world," the report says.

Border guards said that today there are different types of spaniels, which differ in colour, size, length of hair, but their cheerful temperament, vigour and floppy ears remain unchanged.

Representatives of this breed are natural hunters and excellent companions, thanks to their excellent olfactory qualities they have proved themselves in the border service as real hunters for smuggling.

Their little noses are responsible for many cases of detected weapons, explosives, drugs and tobacco products. And although their main purpose is hunting, we often see these cute dogs as pets," the border guards said.

Spaniels are very playful, cheerful and energetic dogs, so they are perfect for families with children. They will become family favourites and loyal partners on duty.
