The occupiers are afraid of a counter-offensive and are trying to secure themselves. To do so, they are bypassing territory near Energodar.

The mayor of Energodar, Dmytro Orlov, said this on air of Channel 5.

The occupants are trying to replace everything around Energodar. If until now, only the coastline and the area around the perimeter of the [Zaporizhzhya] nuclear plant have been mined, now they have already switched to mines in the surrounding villages, forest belts, plantations," the mayor said.

According to him, this is due to the Russians' fear of a Ukrainian counterattack.

The mayor added that the occupiers do not keep military equipment in the city. They hide them in nearby villages and at the nuclear power plant.

Also, there is increased pressure on civilians who are under occupation.

The occupiers continue to increase the pressure on the residents who remain there. Especially those who have not cooperated, who have not received passports, who have not signed a contract with a fake company from Rosatom. And the risk of ending up in basements is almost everyone who encounters the occupiers on the street," Orlov said.
