In Zaporizhzhya, children brought home part of a grenade and it exploded

Two young children in the village of Novoivanivka, Zaporizhzhya region, have been injured because a part of a grenade that was in their hands exploded. This was reported by the National Police Headquarters in Zaporizhzhya Region.

It is reported that the children in the street found and brought home an unknown elongated cylindrical-shaped object. During the game it detonated.

As a result of the detonation of the explosive object, two boys, born in 2012 and 2019, received injuries of varying degrees of severity," police said.

After examination, the 3-year-old toddler was released home by doctors, while the older boy was hospitalised.

After examining the scene and the remains of the explosive object, law enforcers preliminarily determined that it was the handle of an RKG-3 anti-tank cumulative grenade.

After all the necessary procedural steps have been taken, the event will be given a legal qualification.

Law enforcers once again remind parents that they must explain to their children the dangers of objects found in the street. This is especially true in regions where fighting took place and those close to the contact line.

The discovery of such dangerous items should be immediately reported to the relevant services by calling 101 or 102.

It should be noted that Ukraine is the most mined country in the world. More than 40% of the country's territory is mined due to hostilities. From 22 February 2022 to 10 January 2023, at least 611 people were affected by mines in Ukraine. And from 2014 to 2020, 1,190 such incidents were recorded.
