Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responds to Hungarian complaints that sanctions hurt EU more than Russia

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Mykolenko wrote this on his Facebook page.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó complained that the EU had allegedly chosen the "worst possible response" to Russia after it invaded Ukraine. According to the minister, the EU economy was allegedly "heading towards recession", while the economy of the occupant country was not affected.

Nikolenko responded by saying that the Russian economy had rolled back thirty years and that Budapest, meanwhile, was trying to deliberately downplay the effectiveness of the sanctions.

For example, Russia's GDP fell from 5.5 to 9. We saw a 30-35% drop in trade in goods and services; a 90% drop in oil exports to the EU by the end of the year; the exit of almost 1000 foreign companies, which made up 40% of GDP; inflation at 22%, etc.

It is worth reminding that Hungary and Iran will cooperate in the economic sphere. In this way, Budapest allegedly wants to normalize the situation in the Middle East. Despite the fact that it has been repeatedly stated that Iran supplies Russia with weapons and drones for attacks on Ukraine.
