Martial law makes it easier for Russia to mobilize — analysts

According to experts, Russia's declaration of martial law in the occupied Ukrainian territories facilitates mobilization.

On October 25, Putin held a meeting of the coordinating council, at which Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the need to introduce additional security measures in the border areas. At this meeting, the President of Russia stated that the Russian government must work at a high pace and in accordance with an extremely realistic assessment of the national security situation.

Analysts conclude that such a statement indicates that, taking advantage of martial law in the occupied territories, Russia wants to carry out a full mobilization there.

In addition, Russia wants to accommodate religious minority groups within the Russian armed forces. Therefore, they call the war in Ukraine "jihad" or "desatanization."
