The well-known volunteer and paramedic Yulia Paevskaya “Taira”, who was held captive by Russian invaders for three months, was released.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this during a video message on June 17.

I am grateful to everyone who worked for this result. Tyra is already at home. We will continue to work so that everyone is taken away,” Zelensky said.

When exactly Paevskaya was released from captivity, the president did not specify.

Paevskaya was taken prisoner on March 16 in Mariupol. A week later, Taira appeared on a Russian propaganda media video.

After Tyra was captured, the Associated Press published a video taken from her chest camera. In the video, Taira helps the Ukrainian defenders and shows the consequences of the invaders' attacks on Mariupol. There is also footage of Russian soldiers being taken prisoner. After that, local residents are interested in whether Paevskaya will treat their wounds. Civilians receive an affirmative answer, writes NV .

Taira is an aikido trainer and designer by training. However, since the beginning of the war in Donbass, she has been helping the wounded as a paramedic. There, Tyra formed her own evacuation team called the "Angels of Tyra". According to ArmyInform, as of 2019 alone, she saved more than 500 Ukrainian soldiers.

Since 2020, Tayra has been a member of the Ukrainian team "Igor the Unconquered". She has also received a number of state awards.
