The heaviest fighting in the east continues around Bakhmut.

Russia lost almost 23,000 of its soldiers in the battles for Bakhmut. At the same time, Ukraine's losses in this direction are 7.5 times less. The secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, said this in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere.

He stressed that the defence of the fortress city had lasted for 10 months.

Since 1 September, when Moscow started using convicts as mercenaries in Bakhmut, 22,816 people have died. Our losses were 7.5 times less," the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council said.

He also explained that the Ukrainian fighters did not leave the city because "Ukraine has no right to surrender its cities". And he stressed that if the Ukrainians had not resisted the aggression, Moscow would have celebrated victory long ago.

It should be noted that the official Russian casualties from 24 February 2022 to 4 June 2023 are estimated at 209,940 personnel. In the past 24 hours alone, the defence forces eliminated 470 occupants, according to a summary by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
