Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in Kiev on 24 February, the second anniversary of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine. About this Johnson wrote on his page in social network X.
The politician said that thanks to indomitable courage Ukrainians will defeat the aggressor country Russia.
Johnson also called for military, political and economic assistance to Ukraine.
He posted a photo with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and wrote the following: "On this grim second anniversary of Putin's invasion, I am honoured to be here in Ukraine. I have no doubt that the Ukrainians will defeat and drive out Putin's forces, provided we give them the military, political and economic help they need."
Boris Johnson has been called a "great friend of Ukraine" for his help and support in the Russia-Ukraine war.
The former British Prime Minister, in particular, visited the exercises of the Ukrainian military, which is paid for and conducted by Britain. This is how they plan to train 10,000 recruits.
During the war, Johnson's government allocated to Ukraine military and financial aid for about 3 billion dollars. Britain has provided Ukraine with M270 multiple rocket launchers, Brimstone missiles. The military has repeatedly shown how to use them. Since the full-scale invasion of Russia, Johnson has been in favour of new sanctions against Russia and increasing them until Russia stops its aggression. Britain has imposed sanctions on more than 1,100 people and more than 100 companies.
During his official resignation statement, he addressed Ukrainians and assured that Britain would continue to support Ukraine amid Russian aggression.
