Voltage drops in Moldova, causing emergency shutdowns

Specialists of the country's main power grids have started to eliminate the accident.
On Saturday morning, 31 January, due to serious failures in the Ukrainian energy system in Moldova, the voltage on the 400 kV Isaccea-Vulcanesti-MGRES line dropped sharply, which led to an emergency shutdown of part of the country's energy system. This was reported by the Moldovan Minister of Energy on his Facebook page.
The operator of the main power grids Moldlectrica is already eliminating the consequences of the accident, and the power supply has been restored in some settlements," the ministry said.
First of all, the failures affected Chisinau and its suburbs (Stavceni, Durlesti, Vatra), as well as Taraclia, Cahul and Novi Aneni.
It should be noted that at the same time, emergency power cuts occurred in Kiev, causing a temporary halt in the movement of metro trains and the operation of escalators, the Kiev State Administration of State Administration said. In some districts of the capital also temporarily stopped water supply and heating.
Experts attribute these disruptions to the consequences of the strikes on Ukraine's energy facilities. Despite the temporary restoration of power supply in some settlements, the voltage in the network remains unstable.
We shall remind you that on 29 January, US President Donald Trump said that for humanitarian reasons he had allegedly asked the Russian leadership to suspend strikes on Kiev and other cities.
On 1 February, a new round of talks on a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine is expected. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner would not attend the talks.
