The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has recorded 22,904 civilian casualties between 24 February 2022 and 17 April 2023. Specifically, 8,534 Ukrainians were killed and 1,370 injured.

The figures have been published on the organisation's website.

Experts also counted the number of casualties from 1-17 April 2023. The OHCHR recorded 324 civilian casualties, including 85 deaths.

The UN notes that the actual numbers are much higher since there is no accurate information from places where intense fighting is still taking place. This mainly concerns Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
