Ukraine expects to become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance in the near future.
Ukraine will definitely become a member of NATO and there is no alternative to its membership. This was stated by US presidential national security adviser Jake Sullivan in an interview with CBS News.
At the same time, he pointed out that Ukraine currently faces other tasks and "right now Ukrainians are bravely and courageously confronting the Russians in the south and in the east".
Ukrainian warriors are taking a huge toll on the forces of the world's second army," he said.
Sullivan added that allies are helping Ukraine in every way possible, including by imposing new sanctions against Russia.
We will continue economic pressure on Russia, and the Ukrainians will continue military pressure on Russia. So I think at the end of the day, if Russia decides to keep fighting this war, it will cost it dearly. And Ukraine will continue to make progress on the battlefield," Sullivan said.
As for Ukraine's future membership in the North Atlantic Alliance, the US presidential adviser stressed that Kiev has already received consent for its membership from all representatives of NATO countries.
We in NATO said very simply that Ukraine's future is in NATO. We meant it. This is not negotiable. This is what all 31 allies have now committed to," he pointed out.
We would like to point out that during the NATO summit, the US president said that Ukraine's future membership in the alliance was not in doubt.
