The White House said the meeting between Trump and Zelensky went well


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump met on the eve of Pope Francis' funeral.
US President Donald Trump had a "very productive" meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of Pope Francis' funeral at the Vatican on 26 April, White House communications director Stephen Cheung said.
He said Trump and Zelensky "met privately today."
More details about the meeting will come later, the White House spokesman noted.
Earlier that the presidents of Ukraine and the United States met in Rome, where both leaders arrived to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, said the speaker of the Ukrainian head of state Sergey Nikiforov. He also did not give details.
In turn, the TV channel Sky News, citing its sources, reported that Trump and Zelensky agreed to hold follow-up talks after the funeral ceremony of the pontiff.
Note, the meeting took place shortly after Trump's statement that the peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia is "very close".

According to their data, Francis had a stroke, after which he fell into a coma and died. The funeral of Pope Francis began on Saturday 26 April at 10.00 a.m. local time, 11.00 a.m. Kiev time.
