The unique operation took place under the supervision of the bomb squad.



Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar wrote this on her Facebook page:

It's a shock. Not every wound in the heart area is fatal! Military doctors performed an operation to remove a VOG grenade, which did not explode, from a soldier's body.

Malyar also gave some details of the operation. So, during it, two sappers were present in the room to insure the medical staff.

The operation was conducted by one of the most experienced military surgeons, Andrei Verba, and without the use of electrocoagulation, as the grenade could detonate at any second. After the grenade was removed, the wounded man was sent to further rehabilitation.
