US ready to announce military aid to Israel

U.S. officials have discussed with Israeli authorities its need for additional military assistance.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that Washington has received a request from Israel for additional military aid amid an attack on the country by forces of the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas. According to him, this request is now being considered by the American authorities and Washington will soon make a statement on the provision of support. Sky News reported.
We are considering specific requests for additional assistance from Israel. I think you will probably get news on this topic later today," he said.
Blinken also recalled that under a memorandum signed during Barack Obama's presidency, the U.S. provides $3.8 billion a year in military aid to Israel.
In addition, Blinken noted that the U.S. currently does not have any evidence to say that Iran was behind the Hamas attack on Israel.
Earlier, Blinken said in an interview with CNN that the Hamas invasion was a "non-selective terrorist attack by a terrorist organisation."
Today, 8 October, the Israeli government officially announced that the country has entered "a state of war." Hamas militants reported that fighting continues in at least seven locations. The Israeli army announced a mass evacuation of civilians from border areas.
