US to supply Ukraine with ammunition from depots in Israel
The US will supply Ukraine with 300,000 pieces of artillery ammunition from Israeli depots.
This was reported by The New York Times citing sources.
According to US journalists, the USA will supply Ukraine with 300,000 pieces of artillery ammunition of NATO calibre 155 mm. They are stored in depots in Israel. About 150,000 of them have already been shipped to Europe.
Ukraine uses 90,000 artillery shells a month, which is twice the production capacity of the U.S. and Europe, the journalists wrote. That is why Washington paid attention to the stocks in Israel.
The weapons have been stored there since the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.
NYT sources say Israel continues to refuse to supply Ukraine with lethal weapons, but in this situation it has rather joined the US decision to use US munitions at its own discretion.
