Investigators in Kharkiv region have identified a Russian major who killed a Ukrainian woman he was courting.

This was reported by the head of the Investigation Department of the National Police in Kharkiv Region, Serhiy Bolvinov.

Investigators have been collecting evidence and communicating with witnesses all this time - and we have managed to identify this major killer - his name is Alexander, he is 39 years old and a Russian citizen.
The major has been notified of suspicion in absentia by investigators under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder," the statement said.

The victim of the Russian military was a 36-year-old woman named Maria, a native of Ivano-Frankivsk. She moved to Izyum shortly before February 24, as her husband was from that city. She was unable to leave the city at the time of the full-scale invasion.

It is noted that the reason for the murder was jealousy.

In May, when the town was occupied, Maria began to be courted by Russian officers - telling her how they would "take her to the Russian Federation, away from the war". Moreover, these officers became jealous of Maria for each other. on 2 June, Maria approached the Russian headquarters - there was Wi-Fi, which she needed to contact her relatives. A drunken Major Alexander, one of those who had been jealous of Maria, came out of the headquarters. He shot Maria in the chest, with witnesses present. The woman died on the spot," Bolvinov wrote.
