Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occupation of the Luhansk region. This was announced on July 3 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
At the same time, Shoigu called the seizure of foreign territories "liberation."
The territory of the "Luhansk People's Republic" ("LPR") is 97 percent liberated by Russian troops, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry said, TASS reports.
According to Shoigu, as a result of the offensive by the Russian forces, they established control over the city of Lisichansk and a number of nearby settlements, the largest of which are Belogorovka, Novodruzhesk, Maloryazantsevo and Belaya Gora.
The total area of the territories occupied by the Russian troops over the past 24 hours amounted to 182 square meters. km, - added to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Ukraine does not officially report on the situation in Lysichansk.
