Russia has lost more soldiers than in all wars since the Second World War
Russia has lost more soldiers in Ukraine than in all the wars since World War II.
This is the subject of a report by the US Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
During the war in Afghanistan, the Soviet Union lost about 130 fighters every month, while Russia loses at least 5,000 of its military personnel in Ukraine.
СSIS experts estimate that at least 60-70 thousand Russian soldiers have been killed in the war against Ukraine since February 24, 2022. This is many times more than the death toll of Soviet and Russian armies in any post-1945 conflict.
If we add the wounded, the total number of losses is already 200-250 thousand personnel of the Russian armed forces. These losses include dead and wounded mercenaries of PIK Wagner, employees of Russian special services and fighters of "people's militia" of the so-called terrorist groups of "LDNR".

The CSIS report also notes that the highest number of Russian and Soviet military casualties since World War II has been in Afghanistan (14-16 thousand) and Chechnya (12-25 thousand), while before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine during the fighting in Donbass (6-7 thousand) losses were more moderate.
At the same time, the rate of losses is only growing and has exceeded all previous military conflicts. In Chechnya, Russians lost up to 185 people per month, in Afghanistan - up to 145. Now in Ukraine, Russian losses can reach up to 5,000 people per month.
Russia has also lost quite a few of its tanks, The Economist reported that Russians can now build and repair about 90 tanks, but are losing 150 each month.
