Before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Putin was telling German Chancellor Scholz about his ideas that Ukraine "belongs to Russia."

German Chancellor Scholz during the communication with citizens on 26 May at the Democracy Festival told about his meeting in the Kremlin with Putin in February 2022. About it reports Ukrinform.

According to Scholz, Putin showed his imperial ideas that the borders of countries "can be changed by force".

The meeting lasted 4 hours, during which Putin tried to prove to Scholz "that Ukraine and Belarus are parts of Russia."

Lukashenko realises this and has no illusions," Chancellor Scholz said.

Also, among other reasons for war, Putin said that "Ukraine is going to NATO." Scholz replied to Putin at the time that "there is no talk of that, at least not for another 30 years."

Putin also told Scholz about the "Nazi regime" in Ukraine.

Talking about this when the president is a Jew.... It is worth imagining how absurd, disgraceful this explanation is to justify war," Scholz noted.

There was a comment from the audience that Germany was "fuelling the war" by helping Kiev with weapons. The chancellor disagreed.

We give Ukraine the opportunity to defend itself ... Maximum support so that this imperialist attack on a neighbouring state does not succeed ... But at the same time we take care that it does not come to a big war between Russia and NATO," Scholz emphasised.

The Chancellor added that the war kills not only Ukrainians, but also Russians and "only for the sake that someday in the history books, which Putin will not even be able to read, about 100 years from now, it will be written that he conquered a couple of kilometres".

Earlier Socialportal reported that in the land of Hesse in Germany will introduce the Ukrainian language in schools as a second foreign language. This subject will be introduced in September 2024.
