Orban says he will block any sanctions against Rosatom

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said so in an interview with Kossuth Radio on Friday.

He said he would veto any sanctions against Russia's nuclear infrastructure, including Rosatom.

We don't support sanctions in general, we don't even vote for them, but where they do not touch on sensitive issues, we don't impede them. And there are moments where we have to veto, this was with the gas issue. And we will be very tough on nuclear power.

The bottom line is that some countries in Europe want nuclear energy to be at the core of the new package of sanctions against Russia.

Hungary is against sanctions against Rosatom because it has to build two new nuclear power units.
