Office of the Prosecutor General names the number of children killed by Russians during the war

Children in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions suffered the most from Russia's aggressive war.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 564 children have died and 1,487 have been injured of varying severity. Overall, 2,051 children have suffered from the aggressor's actions, the prosecutor-general's office said in a Telegram message.
The largest number of victims of Russian aggression among children in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions - 567 and 407 respectively. In Dnipropetrovsk region 161 children were killed or injured, and in Kherson region - 159. Also, 131 children in Kiev region suffered from the actions of Russians.
The United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF reported in late April that the number of Ukrainian children killed in connection with Russian aggression in the first quarter of 2024 increased by almost 40 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year.
We would like to add that Ukrainian children are traumatised not only during shelling, but the war also has a negative impact on their mental health. It is an atmosphere of constant tension, anxiety and unpredictability in which a child is forced to live. According to experts, it will take years to cure children's mental and psychological traumas.
