The more Western partners transfer air defence equipment to Ukraine, the more successfully our servicemen perform their tasks. This was noted by the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Serhiy Nayev.

He said that in the Northern Operational Zone a great deal of attention is paid to the issues of covering critical infrastructure from air strikes.

We are taking all measures to strengthen the air defence system. In particular, during the air attacks in Zhytomyr region on 19 and 30 August, the crew of the Gepard anti-aircraft artillery unit shot down all the air targets that came within its kill zone," Lieutenant General Sergey Nayev stressed.

During the meeting with the crew of the anti-aircraft artillery unit, the commander thanked the soldiers and ordered that in the future they should fulfil the tasks of covering the Ukrainian sky with 100 per cent efficiency. He emphasised that, apart from the machine, there are people and their professionalism.

The Gepard anti-aircraft artillery unit, manufactured in Germany, is capable of shooting down not only Shaheds, but also cruise missiles. This unit has its own separate radar station, which allows it to detect enemy targets in the air.
